The Richardson West Junior High School Orchestra is one of the premier student performance groups in the North Texas area. Comprised of a culturally diverse student body and consisting of three exceptional performance groups, our orchestra has a history of excellence at the highest level. Our ensembles consistently receive awards from University Interscholastic League (UIL) concert and sight-reading competitions, and frequently attend concerts, contests, and festivals around the Metroplex.

Directors
Angela SledgeDirector of Orchestras
Ms. Angela Sledge is the Richardson West Junior High School Head Orchestra Director. Originally from Abilene, Ms. Sledge earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University as a Summa Cum Laude graduate. In addition to her teaching experience at various summer camps, she has been a violinist and flutist with the Stephen F. Austin Wind Ensemble, Orchestra of the Pines, and Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Sledge is a former violin student of Isador Saslav. In addition to being a violinist, Ms. Sledge is also a flutist and has performed in many symphonies, orchestras, and ensembles. She is a former flute student of Sydney Carlson, Diane Boyd Schultz, and Mary Karen Clardy. She is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and American String Teachers Association.

Justyn StineAssociate Director of Orchestras
Mr. Justyn Stine is the Richardson West Junior High School Associate Orchestra Director. A longtime resident of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Mr. Stine graduated from Oklahoma State University after earning a Bachelor of Music, specializing in Music Education. Mr. Stine has also received his teaching certification in Secondary Instrumental Music Education. During his time at OSU, he studied Double Bass performance and pedagogy with Mr. George Speed, as well as Orchestral Conducting with Dr. Eric Garcia. He has performed as a bassist with the Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra for five years, and was both a performer and faculty member for the Blue Lake Faculty Orchestra in 2014. Additionally, he was a member of the Eastern Music Festival Orchestra in 2012 and 2013. An avid supporter of arts education, Mr. Stine has taught at various summer music camps, such as the Oklahoma Bass Bash and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp located in Twin Lake, Michigan. He is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and the National Association for Music Education.
